Dictionary of Irish Latin American Biography

O'Farrell, Juan Adrián (1866-1942), landowner and politician, was born on 7 September 1866 in San Pedro, the second son of Miguel O'Farrell (1834-1913), MP to the Buenos Aires parliament, and Mary Seery (1841-1901) of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. Miguel O'Farrell was the eldest son of James O'Farrell (1801-1889) of Limerick. Juan Adrián O'Farrell eldest brother was Santiago Gregorio O'Farrell (1861-1926), national MP and conservative politician.

Juan Adrián O'Farrell was in the failed revolutions of 1890 and 1893, and later chaired the central committee of the Radical Party. O'Farrell was appointed major of Pergamino and member of its city council. He was elected MP to the Buenos Aires parliament in three terms. In 1916, Juan Adrián O'Farrell sat in the presidential and vice-presidential election committee. O'Farrell died unmarried on 9 February 1942 in Buenos Aires.
