Murray, Edmundo Guillermo (1903-1979), physician and gynaecologist, was born on 24 July 1903 at Los Tres Pozos, between Capilla del Señor and Campana, the second son of Tom Murray (1868-1938) and his wife Eleonora, née Murphy (1881-1961). Tom Murray was the third son of John Murray (1830-1907) of Newtowncashel, Co. Longford, and Mary Fox (1836-1911).

Edmundo Guillermo Murray was sent to study at Marín school of San Isidro, and then in the school of medicine at the University of Buenos Aires. He travelled to Europe and was appointed researcher at the laboratory of anatomy and histology of La Sorbonne in Paris, and at the gynaecological clinic of the University of Berlin. In 1947 Murray was a founding member of the Argentine Cancer Society, and organised the first worldwide congress of sterility and fertility in 1954. He founded the worldwide association of sterility and fertility in 1958, and the Argentine Society of Mastology in 1967. In 1975 Edmundo G. Murray was appointed professor emeritus of the University of Buenos Aires.

He died on 24 December 1979 in Buenos Aires and was buried at the British cemetery of Pablo Nougues.
